ノートルダム大聖堂、灰から芸術は再び現れるか

The Notre Dame cathedral in Paris was damaged by a major fire on April 15. 

4月15日、パリのノートルダム大聖堂が大規模火災で焼失した。

According to estimates, the repair work might take at least two decades. 

試算によれば、修復には少なくとも20年かかるという。

Some of the damaged objects at the cathedral include its main organ, which has pipes dating back to the 12th century, large paintings, and the central altar.

大聖堂の損傷した物の一部には、12世紀から存在するパイプを持つ主要なオルガン、大きな絵、中央にある祭壇がある。

Among the people leading the repair project is Michel Honore, director of fine arts at Sedgwick.

He will be leading a team of 30 experts in various art mediums.

According to Honore, most of the treasures at the cathedral are safe, but water and smoke have damaged many artworks, which will now have to be carefully repaired by the experts.

Thankfully, Jesus Christ’s ‘crown of thorns’ was saved from the fire.

People like Michel Honore will have to work hard for months, and perhaps years, to bring Notre Dame close to its condition before the fire.
